Black Ops 4 will give PS4 owners new content seven days before PC and Xbox One

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 developer Treyarch has confirmed that all post-launch content for the shooter will come to PlayStation 4 seven days before other formats.

While we already knew that Activision and Sony had a deal in place for bringing content to the PS4 early, it was assumed that the exclusivity period would extend to 30 days like previous games.

This obviously isn't the case anymore, with PS4 owners now only getting things one week in advance. This includes everything from new specialists and maps, to seasonal events, and presumably anything included in the previously announced Black Ops Pass.

Call of Duty games had previously offered timed-exclusive content for Xbox 360 owners during the last console generation, although things shifted in favour of Sony for the current cycle. Destiny 2 is also another example, with PS4 getting exclusive content for 12 months.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is rolling out on October 12 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.

Treyarch recently outlined a number of changes for the game's battle royale mode, Blackout, following the recent beta testing period. Get a taste of how Blackout will work in the latest trailer here.
