Bungie plan to release Destiny's update 2.0 in September ahead of the Taken King expansion and recently gave an update on what new surprises and twists they have planned.

Bungie are preparing fans for a big shake up when it comes to the weapons they'll be wielding in Destiny after the 2.0 update.

A huge swathe of the title's in-game arsenal is set to be changed ahead of the launch of the Taken King in September.

Auto Rifles, Pulse Rifles, Scout Rifles, Hand Cannons, Shotguns, Fusion Rifles, Sniper Rifles and Rocket Launchers are getting a fine tuning.

Exotic weapons will not escape the purge, with the Destiny dev team confirming: "Unlike the last weapon balance update, we’re taking this opportunity to address a few of our Exotic Weapons in tandem with the changes to the base weapon behavior.

"Fair warning: Some of these changes are intended to make you feel better while killing with the weapon, and some are intended to make you feel better while being killed by the weapon."

Weapon stats are also getting the treatment in a bid to make the most powerful guns in the game feel more unique, including:
  • Reduced Base Weapon Stats - This means brand new Auto Rifles will have slightly less starting Stability, brand new Shotguns slightly less starting Range, etc. You still have lots of options to grow those stats as you spend time with a weapon
  • Stat Perk Tuning Pass - allows players to be able to spike a stat that reinforces their play style, but at a cost. Basically, if you want to spike a stat we are asking you to specialize the weapon for what that stat offers.
  • Stat Perk column on Talent Grids - Bungie wanted to ensure that if they were introducing Stat Perks that asked you to reduce a stat, it never forced you into doing that by placing that perk on an unavoidable node.
Apart from the changes coming to the weapons on offer in Destiny, Bungie also plan to introduce the biggest update and expansion to the arsenal and armour in the Destiny universe since the 2014 launch of the game.

Community manager David Dague, confirmed: "We’re looking down the barrel of the largest arsenal of weapons and armor that Destiny has ever seen – and that includes the original launch of the game."

Merrill also teased that there would be further surprises for fans that have yet to be revealed when the third expansion is released on September 15.

"We still have some surprises and twists we don’t want to spoil that you’ll get to experience when The Taken King is released. We playtested these changes every day, multiple times a day, in all activities, using all kinds of weapons. We feel pretty good about them," he added.

Playes the other DLC's for this from the season pass, shame this isn't included in that but might get it anyway.

Thing is with Destiny, there's always something to do and you always want more. I'm definitely getting The Taken King.

The more I see & read of it the more I want it, not sure I can find the time to play all these games though.
