Microsoft have announced today that you will be able to use external storage devices on the console with the June update. You will in fact be able to use a maximum of 2 external devices on the console as seen in the video below.

You will be able to set the external devices as the default storage location for the console as well as being able to move any existing content to your external storage. This will enable you to take your content with you and use on another console, you will have to sing in to your Live account to use it though.

The June system update will also allow users to show their real names online, which should make it easier for them to be found by their friends. Microsoft will offer options so that a person's real name can be shown to all of his or her friends on Xbox Live, or just a subset of their friends, or none at all.

The SmartGlass app will also be getting an update with the June update giving you full universal remote control functions along with OneGuide TV Support.
Now in supported markets you can view all of your TV listings on your SmartGlass device and set and view your favorite channels and app channels on your smart phone, tablet or PC. With the Universal Remote Control, you can also easily switch channels, set new recordings and select and control recorded content from your DVR. Another great companion feature now in SmartGlass is pin reordering. With the touch of your finger you can easily organize your pins in categories or favorites based on your preferences and have those changes refresh to your console.

The June update will also expand the use of OneGuide beyond the US, users in Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy will now be able to use it. A new section for Games for Gold will be added to the dashboard at the same time.

On your Xbox One? Thought you had to wait till the update next month?

Are you part of the preview programme?

If so go to the settings app and look under the system icon, you will see a menu option to check for updates. Saves waiting for MS to push the update out.

I've sent you an invite to the preview app, not everyone gets accepted though. If you get accepted just follow the instructions they'll send you.
