In an Xbox Wire announcement today, Microsoft unsurprisingly confirmed that it will be coming to Cologne, Germany, for gamescom next month. The company provided an overview of its plans for the event, which include the first public testing for its upcoming game streaming service, Project xCloud.

Microsoft first announced Project xCloud in October last year. There have been some revealed features for the service in recent months, including support for over 3500 games. However, new details unveiled at E3 in June were few and far between, with the tech giant essentially only confirming that the service will be available in preview this October.

Now, however, it has been announced that fans at gamescom will be among the first to get a hands-on experience with Project xCloud, and "experience the true power of cloud gaming on mobile". As such, we can probably expect more information regarding the service to be released during the event.

Around 200 gameplay stations will be present at Microsoft's booth, allowing the public to experience titles like Mojang's upcoming Minecraft: Dungeons, along with Gears 5's new Horde Mode, for the very first time. Fans will be able to check out the latest PC gaming hardware, while new apparel and collectibles for franchises such as Gears of War, Halo, and Sea of Thieves will be available for purchase as well.

Microsoft will be kicking off at gamescom with a special episode of Inside Xbox live from the Gloria Theatre in Cologne, on August 19 at 5:00 p.m. CEST / 8:00 a.m. PDT. You can learn more about its plans for the exhibition and show opening times here.
