PlayStation Plus prices will increase on Sept. 22, according to an update on the PlayStation Blog. Beginning in just one month from today, new and current members will have to pay upward of $60 for one year of the service.

New membership prices are as follows:
  • $59.99 for one year (up from $49.99)
  • $24.99 for three months (up from $17.99)
  • $9.99 for one month (no change in price)
Current subscribers will be hit with the pricier fees after renewing their accounts. This is the first time that they’ll be expected to pay more, the PlayStation Blog states; prices have remained stable since PlayStation Plus launched in 2010.

Those who are unhappy with the new prices can cancel their membership, and in doing so forfeit their Plus privileges. These include games given away to subscribers every month, as well as online multiplayer access on PlayStation 4. Discounts are regularly offered to Plus members on the PlayStation Store as well.
