Pre-orders are now open for Microsoft's Xbox One X

A month ago, Microsoft opened up pre-orders for a special Project Scorpio Edition of the Xbox One X. The limited edition console was sold out within days, leaving many wondering when their next chance would be to buy the world's most powerful gaming console.

And while some retailers have spilled the beans already, Microsoft today announced that the standard version of the Xbox One X is now available for pre-order. There's no difference between that and the Project Scorpio Edition, except there's no Scorpio branding on the device or the controller.

That means that it comes with 1TB of storage. I did ask around with some folks at Microsoft about whether the console will be available in other storage configurations, and while they wouldn't confirm or deny it, I was told that the company really would rather have you buy an external hard drive for the extra space.

Microsoft's Xbox One X console is the first to run games at True 4K, making it the most powerful console that exists. The company confirmed today that there are now over 130 games that are to be enhanced for the One X, and that now includes Far Cry 5, L.A. Noire, GreedFall, and Okami HD.

It launches on November 7, and you can pre-order it here for $499.
