Microsoft has announced today that it will be launching its own official stereo headset for the Xbox One in March, around the same time as the scheduled update for the console that will be arriving in the same month.

The headset includes over-ear speakers and a unidirectional microphone that is designed to capture voices with as much precision as possible, although whether it works remains, of course, unseen for now.

The headset has an audio spectrum of 20Hz - 20kHz which should be more than enough to cope with the vast array of sound effects utilised in today's modern games. It also comes with a detachable Stereo Headset Adapter that lets you balance the game and chat audio levels, control master volume for the headset and mute the mic without removing your hands from the game controller.

The headset will be priced at $79.99 (£60 in Britain) and will launch worldwide in March. The Stereo Headset Adapter, mentioned above, will also be made available on its own for $24.99 (£20 in Britain) for use with existing 3rd party headsets or an Xbox 360 device.
